- When applying eyeshadow, wet the brush & squeeze out excess water. Then apply as usual. This keeps the eyeshadow on longer and looks more natural.
- When you apply foundation, concealer, anything around your eyes, use a tapping movement. The tapping will increase blood flow and in turn reduce puffiness and dark circles.
- For those chapped lips we get in these harsh MN winters, make sure to get a chapstick with hyaloronic and/or Shea butter. Chapsticks with wax just cover your lips - like a raincoat!
- When you apply foundation, apply up, towards your forehead. Pulling down on your face overtime just creates wrinkles and a tired look.
- Always apply a moisturizer before your foundation, concealer, powder, anything! The SPF helps year round, protecting your skin. And if you use foundation, it goes on smoother.
- When choosing a nude pink lip color, stay away from matte colors. It makes you look sickly.
- Feeling like you need a new hairstyle? Part your hair far to either the left or right side, then french braid the opposite side back. But only back to the halfway point of your forehead to nape.
- Apply a shade of blue, green, or purple to your bottom lashes with an eyeliner pencil. But keep the look softer by taking a q-tip and blending it in. Add a little Rosy blush and say hello to spring!
- Apply a light gold-white eyeshadow for a quick highlighted look to your brow bones, and your cheek bones.
- Need an easy updo? Put your hair in a ponytail. Braid the length of the hair with a classic braid, or any other of your choosing. Then wrap the hair around your ponytail (think of a ballerina bun) and secure. Then simply pull and tug on random pieces to make it a little more messy.
- If lip gloss is a must for your day, fill your lips with a like-color to the gloss with a lip liner pencil. Even if you don't like the "look" of lip liner, it keeps the gloss on longer and as long as you pick the same colors, you won't notice the liner!
- When using earthy, natural tones of eyeshadow, remember to prime the eyelids first to keep the color on longer.
- ALWAYS seal liquids on your face with a powder. With this I mean, after you apply foundation, apply a translucent power. After apply a cheek stain, apply another powder. This locks in the liquids, creams, stains, anything & keeps the makeup on longer.
- Despite what anyone has told you, never ever ever use hairspray to "seal" on your makeup.
- Layer lipstick and gloss to create a more impactful pout.
- Eyes look tired? Apply a white, sparkly eyeliner to the bottom lashes. It opens your eyes and brightens them. The hint of sparkle prevents it from looking chalky.
- Only choose one face accent to draw attention to. Ex: Lips, eyes, cheeks. Never do all of the above, unless your going for the clown look.
- Mix a dab of moisturizer with your foundation for a smoother application.
That's all for tonight!
